  • Differences between eBook and Vella
Aside from the eBook having a different cover and being largely less expensive, the content of either versions is identical. The same story is being told, and any revisions made while converting the serial to an eBook were updated on Vella. As to why there are two different versions, originally the entirety of The Rashea Raid was published on a now defunct blog. When Vella was announced, it made sense to move the story over to that platform. However, I'm just not a huge fan of Vella, and decided to roll out an accompanying eBook for better accessibility. If you prefer the Vella version, fear not, as it will remain available unless Amazon decides to axe the whole platform.
  • Narrative Style: Interludes
When reading through the saga of the Twice Vexed upon Rashea, you will come across shorter chapters with a subtitle of Interlude. These asides are purposefully placed out of chronological order, meant to offer insight into the current plot by visiting the past experiences of the Twice Vexed. While these fit nicely into Vella's episodic structure, they are a bit jarring in the eBook's more rigid chapter-to-chapter layout. Even disruptive as they are to the narrative flow, I decided to keep them as is when I abridged the episodes into the eBook. The alternative was an attempt to cobble them together into some semblance of a first act, which swiftly became a disjointed mess. Bear with them, as I promise each is relevant to the chapters between which they are nestled.
  • Content Advisory
I imagine if The Rashea Raid was rated by the MPAA, it would probably receive a PG-13 rating. Here's a more in-depth overview of the content, spoiler free: Language - Moderate You're not going to see anything beyond one of my favorite quotes from The Simpsons, "...It will be just like the Swiss Family Robinson, only with more cursing. We're gonna live like kings, Damn hell ass kings!" That being said, there are some stand-ins used for the more excessive curses, though they are few and far between. Sexual Content - Minimal There's some implicit naughtiness here and there. No descriptions of nudity or intercourse of any variety is present. Violence - Moderate Plenty of fantasy-styled violence all around, more often than not resulting in someone's death. There's no overly graphic descriptions of limb-loppings or the like. Other Disturbing Content - Moderate There's loads of murderous undead lurking about - everything from zombies to malefic ghosts. If that's not bad enough, there's also a couple of daemon-worshipping cults in the mix. Daemons themselves are summoned from their wretched hellscapes, with only killing and eating on their minds.
